Organizing Citations for Research & Writing

Reference or bibliographic management tools are software programs that will help organize citations for your research. These tools store your references in one place on your computer, which makes retrieving items easy. You should consider looking for tools that feature the following:

  • Import citations from databases.
  • Store figures or PDF on your computer.
  • Work with your preferred word processing program, i.e. Microsoft Word, Apple pages, etc., help with inserting citations.
  • EndNote and RefWorks are two examples of reference managers to which TTUHSC library subscribes.

Exporting Citations from CINAHL

If you use reference managers EndNote or RefWorks, you will need to download your results to a text file before importing them into your library. When viewing an individual citation or a folder of citations, you download the citation information for your management tool.
